So long, Farewell!

Listening to: Émilie Simon

So, this was my last week at Uni! Very sad indeed.
Emily, Marta and I had our last lesson with Didier to finish off our book projects. It was satisfying to finish off the books and create a box to cover it. Almost metaphoric, eh? To tie off loose ends and box them all up nicely.
Emily and I gave two of our closest tutors gifts from England, as a thanks for all their support over the year. A mug with 'I'd rather be in the pub' was much appreciated by Didier!
Well, I shall leave you with some photographs from around ERBA, and will add photos from my final days in Besançon next week.

So, from my flat in Besançon I join my parents at a little hotel in a village just outside Besançon. Then we drive down to our favourite tree surrounded hotel, La Sapiniere in Wisques.
The next day we drive down to Calais and get the ferry from there!

100 Beste Plakate Exhibition

Listening to: Chase & Status

It's our last couple of weeks left in Besançon, or rather our last lessons at the university. ERBA often holds exhibitions and this week's has been brilliant!
100 Beste Plakate exhibits a selection of the 100 best posters in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in 2009 and 2010.
I already own one of their books from a previous year and absolutely adore it.
So, you can imagine how thrilled I was when given the opportunity to go around the exhibition.

I am always fascinated by poster art and the different ways artists can create them. You can use so many different techniques and materials, some of them very simple and yet effective.

I suppose that's what draws me to poster art, experimenting with how to translate a message without having to spell it out!

The End is Nigh

Listening to: The Wombats

Last week was our final exhibition, and it went quite well if  do say so myself!

We managed to attract quite a few of the tutors and several students we hadn't met before, so it was nice to meet some new students.
We'd arranged different areas to our expo, including one to advertise our course at Huddersfield. Showing a slide show of work done but our fellow students, the process of the end of year photo-shoot, and a short guided tour of around the University Campus and some of the buildings around town.
We also displayed some of the previous 'Sample' books, which they were all very interested in looking through!

My photography tutor, Gaby was very happy with my photographs much to my relief! And was asking us lots of questions about Huddersfield and the English cheeses which we'd brought for the occasion!
The Director also attended, and gave us some ideas for later work and named artists he thought we'd be interested in.
All in all we had a fun night, with our foreign friends turning up, and us having a good chat and a drink with our tutors and other members of staff.

Polishing Up

Listening to: Biffy Clyro

So, finally our exhibition has arrived!
My last project was specialised in Black and White Photography. Which I have absolutely adored. This year has been brilliant, finally I have had the time to think, look and experiment.
Not having to worry about another 100 things for uni! *siiiiigh*

This time I have been looking at movement, and breaking down each step that makes that movement. Looking at the ordinary and stopping a moment in time. Some times I took a series of quick photographs, breaking up a movement. Other times I have overlapped them and used a double exposure, or used one single photograph to capture a special moment.

So all that's left to do is our expo!
